BBC repeats 'The Vanishing Antarctic'

Our documentary about the rapid melting of the giant Pine Island Glacier is getting several repeat screenings on the BBC over the holiday season. The glacier is 4 times the size of Switzerland and it is likely that other huge iceflows draining the West Antartic Ice Sheet are also melting. It's a huge issue that will surely generate more and more headlines as scientists come to understand it better.

Ipsos MORI survey finds The Health Show a big success

We have the headline results in from an opinion-former survey carried out by Ipsos MORI. The Health Show is being very well recieved:

75% of those surveyed know the show and two-thirds of them say they personally felt better informed after seeing our programmes.

IM says: "All the opinion formers think TV programmes of this kind are a good idea (and three-quarters give the top rating, saying they are a very good idea). Eight in ten think TV programmes of this kind are likely to influence and inform debate on global health issues, and two-thirds say they are likely to influence and inform policy."

Antarctica a hit at MIPCOM

The 60-min cut of our film The Vanishing Antarctic is doing really well. Early returns from MIPCOM show firm interest from more broadcasters than any film we have previously sent there. More than 130 screeners have already been requested by some of the world's biggest and best broadcasters with a truly global range of countries taking an interest.

Rockhopper launches ambitious global TV health series

We have started production on 'The Health Show', a presenter-led, 26-part magazine health show that will run weekly from July 2011. The series is a co-production between Rockhopper and BBC World News. We are now traveling the world in search of great health stories that need telling.

We will be making 78 short health films available for free download through this and other web sites.

Rockhopper is back in Antarctica

We're back in Antarctica with the British Antarctic Survey at Rothera. Director Beth Jones and cameraman Mike Arnott are with Richard (presenting). It's Rockhopper's 3 trip to Antarctica and Richard's 6th.

Whilst we're here we'll be visiting the Larsen Ice Shelf, the Flask Glacier, Fossil Bluff and we'll reporting on the rapid warming that's affecting the West Antarctic Ice Sheet. Our Dancing Traffic Cop is a traffic hit

Rockhopper goes viral! Our Youtube video of this dancing traffic cop in Abuja, Nigeria, has reached 160,000 views, popping up as a featured video on sites around the world, and making our rhythmic friend here by far the most famous traffic cop in all of Africa. And it's a great edit by Garry.

Anya moderates at Cancun Climate Conference

Rockhopper director Anya Sitaram will be moderating a high level panel at the UNFCC Climate Conference in Cancun next week. Organised by the European Commission and for an invited audience, the event will focus on "Building Alliances for Climate Change Adaptation".
