11 year old Vinoth Kumar lives near Namakkal, in the heart of Tamil Nadu, Southern India. Like many of his friends and neighbours Vinoth and his mother are HIV positive. Namakkal has one of the highest incidences of the disease in the whole of India. His friends and neighbours are aware of his HIV status and the stigma surrounding HIV is a major fear in Vinoth’s life.
