Mongolia has a health system in collapse. Maternal, neonatal and childcare technology date back to the Soviet 50s and is disintegrating. There is change and improvement – in particular retraining and education thanks to governmental and international investment. Away from the towns, maternity homes are being built to bring women closer to medical staff as childbirth approaches. Lives are being saved – but there’s still a great deal to be done.
