When caught by a pregnant woman, Rubella has devastating consequences on the unborn child. With congenital rubella syndrome, or CRS, the child can end up deaf, partially blind and with heart and brain defects. We visit the Dominican Republic, where, along with disabilities, CRS also creates a heavy economic burden. Relief from the disease could lie in new vaccines being developed in India.
